In a bizarre legal twist, ex-employee Samantha Conor is suing SCB Bank, accusing the institution of repeatedly stealing her lunch every Friday.
Conor, who worked at SCB for three years, claims her meals, despite being clearly labeled, mysteriously vanished from the office fridge like clockwork.
According to Conor, after ruling out hungry coworkers, she concluded that the bank itself was behind the weekly lunch disappearances. “It couldn’t just be a coincidence,” she stated in her complaint. Despite reporting the issue to HR, she alleges her concerns were ignored.
Conor’s attorney, David Whitman, called the case “a matter of principle,” arguing that a company trusted with financial security should also protect employees’ personal property—especially sandwiches. SCB has not commented, though sources suggest they may argue Conor could have better protected her lunches.
The case is set to go to court later this year, where Conor is seeking compensation for her missing meals and emotional distress.
